Planted in Homewood

An Initiative of BTC Center Inc.

About

Our Roots

Planted in Homewood knows that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives. Back in 2016, we realized that by working together and grounding ourselves in our community we could grow our neighborhood by providing opportunities to access fresh, organic, healthy, hyper-local food and help stabilize and shape a positive atmosphere in North Homewood.

As of 2019, we're pleased to announce the 7301 Idlewild St. garden is open!

All are invited to help keep the garden tidy or soak up some sunshine from dawn to dusk each day.  Please follow the garden rules posted on the fence and make sure the gate is closed upon exit.

A PiH ambassador will be in the garden weekly from Jun. - Sep. from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm to answer questions or help with the hands-on gardening experience.

The PiH organics help support BTC Center's Food Pantry and the annual Thanksgiving dinner.  Those who log online volunteer gardening hours may share in the annual harvest of organically grown garlic, peas, broccoli, greens, kohlrabi, tomatoes, bell peppers, and mushrooms. We also anticipate having cut flowers and herbs (Echinacea, Lavender, Marshmallow, and Yarrow) thanks to Homewood, Troop 52493, Girl Scouts' pollinator garden.

2019-2020 Phase ii & III Plans:

Rose Garden, Grape Vines, Berry Patch, Deck, Seating, AV equipment and "No Mow" groundcover.
